Netherlands Plans Up to Three Additional Years for Working Newcomers to Complete Integration
On 5 November, the Dutch government announced plans to give eligible newcomers up to three additional years to complete civic integration requirements if they work at least 28 hours per week. The proposed changes are expected to take effect in 2027, while the government aims to increase employment among newcomers by 75,000 over four years. No separate programme budget was announced. The policy creates opportunities in workforce integration, language training and employer support. HPC can support HR research, workforce planning and training strategy.
